Located near the center city and at a height of 200 meters, Hon San mountain is an ideal place to view Nha Trang’ landscape from above.
Booking a tour to Hon San mountain, we gathered at Khanh Phat Travel’ office (Add: Group 14 Ngoc Thao, Ngoc Hiep Ward, Nha Trang). This has been the only travel firm operating tour to Hon San now.

Then, we moved to the mountain base to start the mountain climbing trip. Participating the trip with us were two English tourists and 3 Vietnamese young people from Ho Chi Minh City. We went along a cleared path. Passing a 1.5 kilometer slope, we took a rest before the second stages which was more challenging with cliffs, caves, ravines and forest trees. That was why it took us one hour to overcome only 50m distance between mountain peaks. But when we reached Hon San peak at an altitude of 200m, all of us felt exciting. “This is the first time I’ve climbed to a mountain. At first, I was afraid that I couldn’t do it, but now I’m standing on the peak. How wonderful!”, Thao Anh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City happily said. Dennis David, an English tourist, commented, “Mountain climbing here is harder than in England because the weather is hotter. But, that’s the reason I like it as I had a new experience. Moreover, seeing Nha Trang view from here is very interesting.”
Standing on Hon San peak, we can see the panorama of Nha Trang City. Looking to the east is the city with residential areas and high buildings by beautiful Nha Trang Bay. Famous spots of the city such as Ponagar Temple, Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Cathedral, Chong Rock, Vinpearl and Cai River also appear with a new view. From here, the city is seen clearly to be surrounded by mountain chains. To the South is Dong Bo mountain chain; to the North is Co Tien mountain, and to the West is Hon Nghe mountain and Vinh Phuong countryside, etc.
