40 kilometers apart from Ninh Hoa Town (Khanh Hoa Province) to the east, the island commune Ninh Van owns peaceful and simple feature. This is an ideal place for homestay, a form of tourism that allows visitors to rent rooms in local families.

Before 2009, it was only by sea to travel to Ninh Van. Since 2009, a road built across Hon Heo mountain has opened opportunities of exchange and economic development for the local people. On the winding road to Ninh Van, tourists can enjoy a very fantastic landscape with deep green forests and mountains in one side and deep blue sea with lapping waves in the other. The tourists also will feel relaxed with the peace and fresh air here.

“What a surprise! Ninh Van is only 40 kilometers apart from the urban area but I feel it’s very far and separate from the busy and noisy outside world.”, said a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City named Nguyen Kim Phuc.

When the island commune Ninh Van appears, visitors can see a coastal village with lots of garlic fields and boats bobbing on the waves in the distance.

Ninh Van has no hotels, therefore homestay is chosen by visitors. Surprisingly, most houses are willing to accept guests. Many residents in Ninh Van earn living by fishing and aquaculture, especially raising lobsters. There are also fish sauce furnaces. And, for 10 years, growing garlic has come to the village.

Homestay visitors can have meals and spend nights in local houses. In the morning, visitors can contemplate the sunrise on the sea and feel the life here clearly when mixing with the busy atmosphere of boats carrying fish from sea to land. Visiting Ninh Van Market and special food here is also an interesting experience.

Coming to Ninh Van, tourists also can swim in the fresh and blue sea waters of desolate beaches such as Bai Chuong, Bai Bang, Bai Be and Bai Nho. An integral place for a trip to Ninh Van is the national-level relic No-number Ship 235. Tourists also can discover Hon Heo forest or spend time on garlic fields.

Le Kim Nhat, director of Nha Trang Tre Tourist Co., Ltd. said, “Ninh Van is an unforgettable destination. The place is very suitable for homestay tourism. We are designing tours towards travel associated with the community in Ninh Van.”
