The program named “Bringing Vietnamese-made goods to rural areas” will continue in the second quarter, 2010 in an effort to promote domestic trade in Khanh Hoa Province. More propaganda and market-days are required to increasae the sales of domestic products in rural areas.
The domestic trade promotion must be regularly kept to form a habit of using locally-made products. |
Rural areas: market of great potentials
Export products have flooded many markets in Khanh Hoa Province. A seller named Pham Nhu Mai in Ba Ngoi Market, Cam Ranh said, “Many distributors of joint-venture companies are very active in marketing while domestic enterprises are still reluctant in expanding markets to rural areas for fear of lack of experience, capital losses, etc. Therefore, foreign products have dominated local rural areas.
The “Vietnamese people use Vietnamese products” campaign together with “Vietnamese products enter Cam Ranh” program held in June 2009 has achieved satisfactory results bringing the sales to VND750 million. Since then, many local enterprises have changed their view on rural markets. The event helped stimulate domestic demand and encouraged rural people to use products made in Vietnam. The program provided chances for producers, traders and local consumers to meet and exchange their interest and information. It was also a good opportunity for enterprises and retailers to exchange marketing experience to promote their trademarks. Moreover, it helped create a close link among local distributors, retailers and producers. It is seen as a kind of effective push to encourage loyalty to domestic products.
More publication required
The program “bringing Vietnam-made products to rural areas” 2010 will continue to run in the second quarter in Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Ninh Hoa, Cam Lam, Van Ninh and Dien Khanh. Lai Van Tung, Director of Khanh Hoa Center for Industry & Trade Promotion said, “Thanks to the program, many enterprises discovered great potentials of rural markets. Many enterprises have registered to join the program this year. The province will fund the cost of transport, security, publicity and shopping location rental, etc for the program.”
To promote domestic trade, according to the Department of Industry & Trade, besides the government’s demand stimulus policies, enterprises should diversify their products with reasonable prices as well as build up effective distribution networks. They should also study rural consumers’ demand and take advantage of local authorities’ support in trade promotion. Do Huu Viet, Director of 584 Nha Trang Fishery Company said, “We have joined the program held in many parts of the country. There was a limited number of enterprises joining the program in Khanh Hoa Province. More publicity is required for the program.”
Many enterprises suggested that depending specific situations of each community, the organizing board should boost “day or week for the use of locally-made products”, lengthen market-days of the program, etc. Moreover, the program should be expanded to mountainous areas of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh. Local authorities’ concern and enterprises’ close cooperation are required to make a success of the local trade promotion helping consumers to get the best locally made products with reasonable prices.
