The Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holiday will come in several days. Like previous years, travel demand surely will boom on this occasion.
The Reunification Day and May Day holiday this year lasts four days from April 30 to May 3, including the weekend, which is forecast to raise the travel demand sharply. The number of travelers on Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City route is foreseen to make a 60% increase over last year. Therefore, it is worried that there will be heavy traffic jams on national roads, especially on April 29 and May 2.
Meanwhile, many people are afraid that they cannot buy tickets to travel as the demand rises too sharply and all vehicles are fully booked.

Head of Southern Nha Trang Coach Station Nguyen Cong Hai said, “Travel demand always soars on April 30 and May 1 holiday, especially the routes to Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Da Lat and Buon Ma Thuot. To meet the high demand, Southern Nha Trang Coach Station has sold tickets in advance for passengers. There also will be a lot of additional coaches on this occasion in order that all passengers can travel.”
60 coaches are expected to depart from this station each day on this occasion and ticket fares will increase by about 40% over usual.
Especially, Phuong Trang Company, a big carrier, has committed to keep ticket fares on routes from Nha Trang to Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City unchanged (VND100,000 for a ticket to Da Lat and VND130,000 for a ticket to Ho Chi Minh City).
At Nha Trang Railway Station, more than 90% of tickets on this occasion have been bought. Saigon Railway Passenger Transport Company will add nine couples of trains (11 or 12 carriages each) to the route Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang from April 28 to May 3. Particularly on April 29, six trains will depart from Ho Chi Minh City and on May 2, five ones will depart from Nha Trang on May 2. To reduce time to ticket buyers, Nha Trang Railway Station is providing order via telephone service and free home delivery.
Order and security also will be noticed at coach and railway stations on this occasion to keep the holiday safe and peaceful.
