The world economy in first months of 2010 has signs of recovery. Therefore, industrial businesses in Khanh Hoa Province has stepped up production. Up to April, the industrial production value of Khanh Hoa Province reached VND4,710.7 billion, increasing by 8.4% year-on-year. Of the sum, the industrial production value of local State-own businesses was VND1,151.6 billion, 14% up; FDI sector’s was VND1,163.4 billion, 7% up; non-State sector’s was VND2,256.6 billion, 9% up. Central State-own sector particularly showed a 15% decrease year-on-year as its industrial production value was only VND139.1 billion. Some reasons are the remaining influence of the economic crisis, slow recovery rate and lack of capital for production.

Ship building, which makes up a high rate in the Central State-own sector, is meeting a lot of difficulties. For example, Nha Trang Ship Building Industry Company has met with serious difficulties in sale. Its industrial production value in the first four months of 2010 saw a 32% drop year-on-year.

Furthermore, Cam Ranh Cement Factory invested VND450 billion with a designed capacity of 500,000 tons/year is still in test run. Nha Trang Industrial Gas Enterprise, which is an oxygen supplier for industrial businesses, especially in ship building, saw a decrease in production after the drop in ship building.

In addition, slow recovery speed of the market and increase in foreign currency price remain a great challenge to businesses. Prices which rise according to the economic recovery also have made influences on production and trade of many businesses. And, several businesses which have changed from State-own ones into joint stock ones pulled the industrial production value of the State-own sector down.

With above-said difficulties, it’s very difficult for the Central State-own businesses to forward the growth rate rapidly. Representatives of the businesses presented their difficulties to the provincial Standing People’s Committee. Vice-president of Khanh Hoa Province Nguyen Thi Thu Hang affirmed that the authorities will facilitate the businesses to solve their problems.
