Tram Huong Forestry Company is a State-own business, established in 1999. It majors in forest protection, afforestation, wood exploitation, forest product process for export, construction stone trade and irrigational work construction. During the past five years, the company has done business effectively and fulfilled all targets, becoming the standard-bearing unit in agriculture of Khanh Hoa Province.
Tram Huong Forestry Company has been alloted 40,000 hectares of forestry in six mountainous communes in Khanh Vinh District, namely Khanh Hiep, Khanh Binh, Khanh Trung, Khanh Nam, Khanh Dong and Khanh Vinh Township. The company has to work in mountainous and remore areas and it’s a hard an dangerous work. However, under the management of its executive committee, the whole staff always try to fullfil the targets the State sets.

To improve quality of the forest, Technical Division of the company has done researches about land, soil and climate to grow suitable and economic plants. In 2009, the company grew 31 hectares of protective forest, raising its area of artificial forest to nearly 4,000 hectares. Additionally, the company has done forest protection and forest fire prevention well. Basing on the administrative boundaries between communes, the company has set up three forest manangement stations at key points. The company also coordinates with the army, the police and the authority to control forests and propagandize about fire forest to the residents.
Furthermore, the company has paid the residents a flat rate for growing, taking care of and protecting forests and processing wood. 64 households have agreed to protect 3,000 hectares of forest, creating jobs for about 600 laborers, partly preventing deforestration and shifting cultivation and partly eliminating hunger and reducing poverty for the ethnic minority people.
In 2009, due to the global economic downturn, wood export fell down. However, the company still had many contracts with foreign partners to export nearly 700m3 of refined wood, getting an turnover of more than VND10 billion. By emulation movement, the company found out many technical improvment initatives to save hundreds of million VND.
Annual average turnover of the company is VND35 – 40 billion. Its turnover in 2009 made a 180.9% increase over 2004. Average income was VND3.3 million/person/month, rising by 194.1% over 2004.
The company also attaches importance to training and upgrading their staff. Professional classes are opened for technical cadres and skillful workers frequently.
Over years, Tram Huong Forestry Company has stabilized its operation and set a firm position in the market. With above achivements, the company has just been awarded Third-class Labor Medal by the President.
