Cultural activities in Khanh Hoa Province recently have become large-scale and very interesting. Most of them have been socialized.
Ponagar Temple Festival 2010 attracted more than 10,000 arrivals, about 5,000 of whom were pilgrims. The festival this year was more large-scale and more successful than previous years. It was owning to the socialization in its organization. 70% of the works were undertaken by kind-hearted individuals and organizations. “Ponagar Temple Festival 2010 has become a national-level cultural activity and introduced culture of the province”, said Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Huu Bai. Free meals and accommodations for pilgrims were donated by benefactors. The activities in the festival also were supported by a lot of participants. The festival’s success affirmed that socialization in cultural activities in Khanh Hoa Province is a proper action.

Annually, Khanh Hoa Province holds many other traditional festivals such as Hung King Temple Festival, Chua Temple Festival and Cau Ngu (fish praying) Festival. All the festivals originate from beliefs and life of the province’s residents. They have developed especially in recent years when the authorities give them more care. Many festivals have been held and many monuments have been restored and embellished. Then, the people have more chance to join cultural activities and they are the subject of the festivals.
Beside the traditional festivals, sea festival, taking place every two years, is a salient event of the province. “Sea festival is a necessary activity to advertise the image of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa. Sea festival encourages socialization. The more socialization a sea festival absorbs, the more successful it is”, said Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Province Le Xuan Than. Accordingly, the rate of socialization in sea festivals has been increasing year-by-year. In 2009, sea festival called for a very big investment from outside. Except the opening ceremony financed by the State budget, all 60 activities of culture, sports and tourism in the framework of Sea Festival 2009 were funded by individuals and private organizations. Thanks to that, the residents and tourists had a chance to enjoy a lot of interesting activities during Sea Festival 2009.
It’s possible to see that socialization always has good effects on traditional as well as modern festivals in Khanh Hoa Province. It only reduces the burden for the State budget but makes festivals closer to the life.
