In the national tourism developing strategy, Nha Trang is defined as one of ten important tourism centers. Then, in 2006, the National Administration decided to establish Nha Trang Tourism Junior College with the aim to train and develop high-quality human resource for tourism in the South Central Coast and the Highlands.
Nha Trang Tourism Junior College covers an area of 4 hectares in Dien Bien Phu Street, 500 meters apart from Nha Trang Beach. This is an ideal location for study. The school so far has finished building its first stage with four works worth VND43 billion. Those are a 5-store building of offices, a block of 50 classrooms, a 4-store block for practice and a VTOS- standard assessment center.
The second stage of the school is under construction with an estimate of more than VND100 billion. Especially, it will include a 3-star 9-store hotel which is for trade and for the school’s training.
Nha Trang Tourism Junior College is in the national formal school system. It can train 800 long-term and regular students in programs such as reception, tourist guide, hotel service, hotel management, cooking, business administration and accounting. The junior college also opens short-term class on demand. Additionally, it can assess Vietnamese tourism skills according to VTOS (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme) standard.

“Nha Trang Tourism Junior College attaches a great importance to students’ quality. We aim to train a human resource good at both knowledge and practice. Therefore, the junior college has given a big investment to facilities and equipment for practice training. It has been sponsored VND2 billion by EU Project to make practice training more effective. At present, it has more than 1,000 students, which has overfulfilled its target”, said Principal Le Xuan An.
The junior college is planned to become a college by 2012 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. However, the school itself targets to meet requirements to be upgraded by end 2011. Now, it is trying to expand scale diversify training forms to satisfy demands in the locality.
