Specialized in providing vocational training for local people in Dien Khanh, Dien Khanh Vocational Center was upgraded to Dien Khanh Vocational High school in October 2009.

The school has 17 teachers including 12 bachelors. Vo Thi Thu My, Dien Phu Commune, a trainee in a sewing class said, “My teachers are very enthusiastic. A theory class is followed by a practice one. After 3 months, I can learn all basic knowledge.”

To meet the increasing job training demand, Dien Khanh Vocational High School has diversified its training sectors, focusing on traditional crafts, making artificial flowers, photography, computing, carpentry, civil engineering, etc. Priority has been given to beneficiaries of policies. Free training has been offered to rural trainees. Poor rural trainees have been granted VND15,000/person/day. The effort has helped to attract a large number of rural people to vocational classes.

Besides procedural knowledge, the school has helped develop learners’ sense of discipline and responsible behavior at work. Particularly, it has provided a combination of school-based and workplace training. 500 trainees, mostly rural people, have received job recommendation. The school in cooperation with Thong Nhat Swimsuit Company held a trade fostering course in 2009 for over its 317 staff and in cooperation with Khanh Hoa Social Center for Education & Labor provided civil engineering training for over 30 people in 2009. 16 vocational courses with 409 trainees opened in 2009.

Vice-Director Thai Huu Luc said, “Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has just approved a project to build a new vocational school in Dien Son Commune with a capital of VND35 billion. The construction scheduled to begin in late 2010 promises to meet the increasing labor force demand in rural areas."
