Khanh Vinh District is a mountainous and poor land of Khanh Hoa Province with an economy mainly basing on agriculture and forestry. Song Cau Industrial Group will be built in the district with the hope to promote industry, create jobs and improve living here.
In recent years, owning to the rural agriculture industrialization and modernization, Khanh Vinh District’s economy has considerable growths, partly improving the residents’ life, especially the ethnic minority people’s. During the past five years, GDP saw an average increase of 8.68% per year (agriculture – forestry – fishery: 4.46% up, industry – construction: 14.84% up, service: 9.62% up). In the first half of 2010, industrial production value of the district was VND26.479 billion, a 22.8% increase year-on-year. However, industry now makes up a small portion in the district’s economic structure and industrial businesses are still small-scale. Therefore, Song Cau Industrial Group is expected to promote the district’s economic structure transfer which tends to industry – service – commerce.
Song Cau Industrial Group, invested the People’s Committee of Khanh Vinh District, is located in Song Cau Commune, beside the road from Nha Trang to Da Lat and 28km apart from Nha Trang. It’s very favorable for travel and sale. The industrial group, 40 hectares in area, will be include small and medium-sized enterprises operating new-technology and unpolluted industries such as wood process, building material production, garment, agricultural machine repair, food and food stuff process (excluding seafood process), and farm and forest product process. These traditional industries will be given priority.

The infrastructure of Song Cau Industrial Group is scheduled to be finished by the second quarter of 2012. Then, factories and firms will be built in an area of 30 hectares, the management sector in 1.5 hectares, green tree area in 1.5 hectares and the rest for other works such as water supply and sewage disposal systems, electric station, roads and ware houses. The industrial group promises to transfer a part of agricultural, unused and hilly land into industrial one to attract investment, improve the residents’ income and contribute more to the State budget. As planned, there will be 15 – 20 agricultural operations changing to industrial ones.
Song Cau Industrial Group is considered to be suitable with Khanh Vinh District’s development tendency which aims to change its economic structure towards industry – service – commerce. It will facilitate local businesses to access modern technologies, improve management level and raise industrial production value of the district. Additionally, the industrial group will rearrange spontaneous operations in the district, develop its traditional industries and create jobs for a large number of laborers.
According to Khanh Vinh District Party Committee Secretary Cao Cuong, in the coming time, the district also will pay attention to industrial production associated with agriculture industrialization and modernization and there will be two smaller industrial groups, namely Khanh Binh and Khanh Thuong after Song Cau Industrial Group.
