Over 29,800 arrivals were reported at 2 fairs under the program named “Bringing domestic goods to rural areas” in Cam Lam and Van Ninh on June 10-13 earning VND1.5 billion in sales. The encouraging result promised bigger-scale programs to be held BSA (Business Studies & Assistance) Center in cooperation with local authorities.

The fairs drew an estimated 29,800 arrivals in Cam Lam and Van Ninh.

36 enterprises which won the national quality award all shared the ideas that rural areas are a market of great potentials. The fair drew nearly 30 locals in Cam lam and Van Ninh. “At first I just wanted to have a look, but then I bought many things because they are cheap and appealing with special offers,” a shopper named Pham Mai Thanh, Cam Duc Township said with loads of bags in hands.

Phan Quoc Huy, Van Phu Commune, Van Ninh District happily said, “I believe in the quality of the products sold at the fair. Many commodities have won national quality awards.” Pham Xuan Son, Sales Director of My Hao Company, one of the leading brands in the cosmetics industry said, “Our products sell well in the evening with VND20 million in sales.” Ngo San, a Fahasa shopkeeper said, “We have a vast sales of books with 10% discount.”  According to the statistic by BSA, over 29,800 arrivals were reported to the 2 fairs on June 10-13 earning VND1.5 billion in sales, VND627 million in Cam Lam and VND816 million in Van Ninh.

However, participating enterprises wanted to do more than just earn a profit. Nguyen Van Thuoc Lon, Sales Manger of HANCOFOOD Company said, “We aim to promote our trademark in an effort to expand our markets where the opportunity exists.”
The good feedback from the shoppers has confirmed great potentials of rural markets. The number of participating enterprises at the fairs doubled compared with last year. This was the first time the program had been held in Cam Lam and Van Ninh, so not many locals knew about it. BSA hopes the next fairs will be held on a far bigger scale with more participating enterprises.

According to Pham Trong Thai, Deputy Director of Industry & Trade promotion Centre, Department Of Industry & Trade, besides the government’s demand stimulus policies, enterprises should diversify their products with reasonable prices as well as build up effective distribution networks. They should also study rural consumers’ demand and take advantage of local authorities’ support in trade promotion.
