Despite a lot of difficulties, Khanh Hoa Province still had a good economic growth rate during the past nine months. This promises that the province will fulfill the year’s target.
So far this year, Khanh Hoa Province has still suffered adverse effects from the global economic crisis as well as drought and epidemic diseases. So, agriculture and industry of the province met a lot of difficulties. Due to the long drought, the cultivated area of the province saw a 3.4% decrease year-on-year. Blue-ear epidemic on pigs killed 12,486 pigs till September 8. Some productions dropped because of the lack of materials and electricity. For example, honeyed sugar felt by 12.14%, silk: 21.1% down, ready-made clothes: 9% down, ampoule medicine: 7% and electricity production: 20.6%.

However, owing to great efforts of the authority, businesses and the people in the province, the economy still had a good growth rate. Food production for the Winter – Spring and Summer – Autumn crops reached 209,392 tons, increasing by 0.3% over 2009. Industrial production value of the province in nine months were VND11,088 billion, 8.6% up year-on-year; revenue of the State budget: VND6,146.3 billion, 22.2% up; export turnover: USD492.6 million, 32.7% up; tourism turnover: VND1,380.3 billion, 15.2% up. GDP in 9 months reached VND9,372.7 billion, rising by 10.63% year-on-year.
The provincial Statistics Office forecasts food production of the province till 2010 will exceed by 1.75% over 2009; industrial production value will rise by 10%; export turnover: 20.3%; tourism turnover: 13.92%, State budget revenue: 14.93%; investment capital of the whole society: 35.5%. Then, GDP growth rate is expected to be 11% over 2009.
To reach the target, the whole province has to try to overcome difficulties. According to leaders of the provincial Statistics Office, the province need to promote industrial production, solve problems for businesses and industrial projects, attract more investment in main economic areas. Especially, in the last three months of 2010, if Nha Trang Shipping Industry Company is added capital in time, Khanh Viet Corporation raises its cigarette production and other businesses remain their production growth rate, the province will get a higher industrial growth rate. Then, GDP growth rate will rise more.
The province is expected to fulfill 2010’s target, partly creating advancing impetus in the period of 2010 – 2015.
