Due to the serious floods in the Central during the past days, food supply has dropped sharply. Accordingly, prices also are rising in Khanh Hoa Province.
Vegetable of all kinds has a 1.5 – 2 time increase in price. For example, colza rises from VND2,000 to VND4,000/bunch; basella alba from VND3,000/bunch to VND5,000/bunch; small colza from VND15,000/kg to VND20,000/kg; lettuce from VND20,000/kg to VND30,000/kg.
Fruits see an increase of VND2,000 – VND5,000/kg. Orange rises from VND18,000/kg to VND20,000/kg; watermelon from VND10,000/kg to VND12,000/kg; grapefruit from VND30,000/kg to VND35,000/kg; blue dragon from VND16,000 to VND20,000/kg.

The unfavorable weather has caused a lot of difficulties for fishery, putting seafood prices up by VND5,000 – VND5,000/kg. Prawn rises from VND180,000/kg to VND200,000/kg; sea shrimp from VND70,000/kg to VND90,000/kg; fresh red snapper fish from VND45,000/kg to VND48,000/kg; snakehead fish from VND60,000/kg to VND65,000/kg; round scad from VND35,000/kg to VND45,000/kg.
Because of the rise in rice export, rice price made an increase of VND1,000 – VND2,000/kg. First-class ordinary rice rises from VND15,000/kg to VND17,000/kg; local ordinary rice from VND8,000/kg to VND10,000/kg; sticky rice from VND19,000/kg to VND20,000/kg.
Prices of essential products such as cooking oil, spice, fish sauce, sugar and beans also showed a 10% rise. At markets, refined sugar is selling at VND22,000/kg, sugar candy at VND24,000/kg. Sugar price is forecast to keep rising when confectionary production season for Tet holiday is coming. Peppercorn price is VND75,000 – VND80,000/kg, peanut: VND34,000/kg, Neptune cooking oil: VND35,000/1 liter, Ajinomoto seasoning powder: VND24,000/pack, Vinamilk fresh milk: VND5,250/box And VND21,500/liter.
Beverage increases by VND5,000 – VND15,000/keg. Canned coke rise from VND150,000 to VND160,000/24-can keg, Heniken beer from VND315,000 to VND340,000/keg, 333 beer from VND185,000 to VND195,000/keg.
Maximark supermarket in Nha Trang just announced new prices for many products. The prices rise by 5 – 10%.
In final months of the year, prices are forecast to rise more because of floods and the rise of USD/VND exchange rate and shopping demand for Tet.
