Vladivostock Air recently had first direct flights from Vladivostock and Khabarov to Cam Ranh Airport, Khanh Hoa Province. The event has started up new potentials to develop tourism between Russia and Khanh Hoa.
Russian tourists, especially those who live in the Far East of Russia, like to travel to tropical beaches on their winter vacation. In recent years, coastal destinations in the Middle of Vietnam have become their first choice. The number of Russian arrivals to Khanh Hoa Province has been increasing year by year. In 2009, there were 19,958 Russian tourists and the figure in the first ten months of 2010 was 23,165.
Previously, Russian had to go via Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City or Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi before arriving Khanh Hoa. The direct flights from Vladivostock and Khabarov to Khanh Hoa will facilitate the travelers and raise the number of tourists from Russia to Khanh Hoa.

Belykh Igor, director of Vladivostock Air in Southeast Asia, said, “We considers Cam Ranh Airport as a strategic destination in Pacific Asia. This first flight is only an exploratory one. We plan to expand this route. Firstly, from now to March, 2011, there will be more 14 direct flights. Then, we will have an advertisement strategy for the summer, bringing more Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa.”
Le Van Nghia, director of Vladivostok Air in Vietnam said, “This airline has started tourism between the Far East of Russia and Khanh Hoa. In the coming time, we will organize Fam trips for leaders, businesses, travel firms and correspondents of two sides to exchange and then propagandize each other.”
Leaders of Khanh Hoa Province always take much interest in attracting tourists from Russia and the province is calling for investment in Northern Cam Ranh Tourist Area to build up seaside resorts by Cam Ranh Airport, according to Huynh Ngoc Bong, Chief of Khanh Hoa People Committee Secretariat.
It’s possible to say that opening flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa is a significant event, directly linking the province to the world. To encourage international flights, tourist businesses in Khanh Hoa implement a commitment to offer 5 – 50% discount on services such as hotels, tours, entertainment and food to the passengers.
