. Miraculous properties of Spirulina
Spirulina was a food source for the Aztecs and other Mesoamericans until the 16th century; its harvesting from Lake Texcoco and subsequent sale as cakes is described by one of Cortés’ soldiers. The Aztecs called it Tecuitlatl, meaning stone’s excrement.
Spirulina was found in abundance by French researchers in the 1960s. In 1973, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognized Spirulina as precious food and medicine.
Spirulina contains rich vegetable protein (60~ 63 %, 3~4 times higher than fish or beef ), multi Vitamins (Vitamin B 12 is 3~4 times higher than animal liver), which is particularly lacking in a vegetarian diet. It contains a wide range of minerals (including Iron, Potassium, Magnesium Sodium, Phosphorus, Calcium etc.), a high volume of Beta- carotene which protects cells (5 time more than carrots, 40 time more than spinach), high volumes of gamma-Linolein acid (which can reduce cholesterol and prevent heart disease).
It’s very good for malnourished children, old people and ill people to improve health. In addition, it can increase immune system and prevent diseases.

Several years ago, Pediatric Ward of Khanh Hoa Province started processing Spirulina yogurt. “There’s a fact that many children refuse medicine. As a result, the pediatric ward put Spirulina into yogurt to create a nutritious product for diseased children. From now, the hospital has transferred this technology to Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company to produce and popularize this useful product”, said Nguyen Manh Tien, director of the hospital.
After a time researching to perfect the product, Sanest Foods Factory of Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company has recently launched a kind of natural spirulina yogurt called Sanest Spirulina.
According to Director of Sanest Foods Factory Nguyen Van Thang, Sanest Spirulina yogurt can increase health and immune and partly prevent some diseases like stomach ache, cancer, heart disease, HVI type 1 và virus Herpes simplex type 1. Additionally, the product provides canxium for bones, smoothens skin and increases sexual vitality.
In only one month, the factory produced 52,000 products, sold many places in the province such as the provincial General Hospital, supermarkets, Dam market and 18 showrooms of Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company. From now to Tet holiday, more 200,000 products will be produced. Especially, Sanest Spirulina yogurt will be supplied for nursery schools, kindergartens and retirement homes with a preferential price with the aim to improve health for the public. In near future, Sanest Spirulina yogurt will be sold nationwide.
