A number of hotels and restaurants have committed turning off lights and unnecessary electric appliances in response to the appeal. Additionally, they have some activities for tourists during Earth Hour.
For example, Sunrise Nha Trang Beach Hotel & Spa will hold a cocktail party with music where its staff and guests will light candles and pray for a green planet.
Yasaka-Saigon-Nhatrang Hotel also has sent its guests letters of invitation for Earth Hour. The hotel will turn off lights as well as unnecessary electric equipment and prepare a cocktail party for tourists to join this global event.
Michelia Hotel will join Earth Hour by turning off lights and opening a cocktail party by its swimming pool.
Other hotels, including Sheraton, Novotel, Hai Yen and Vien Dong, also will light candles in all rooms during Earth Hour.
Many tourists say that they support hotels to join Earth Hour. “Hotels should be encouraged to join Earth Hour. I think a dinner or a cocktail party in the candle light is also very special”, said Nguyen Thu Huong, a tourist from Hanoi.
“This year, more tourist businesses in Khanh Hoa Province have registered to join Earth Hour. Beside turning off lights during the hour, some hotels have interesting programs to serve tourists. Earth Hour needs to be held annually in Nha Trang, a tourist city, to encourage the locals as well as tourists to preserve environment, confronting the risk of climate change”, said Director of the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department Truong Dang Tuyen.
