Dai Lanh Beach is situated in Van Ninh District, 80km north of Nha Trang, close to the National Highway 1A. Dai Lanh is one of the most beautiful beaches with wonderful white sand along with casuarinas.

Lacking in investment

Long time ago, Dai Lanh Beach with beautiful nature was ranked one of the most famous landscapes in Vietnam. Dai Lanh scenery was carved on one of the Nine Urns which is standing in front of The Mieu yard in Hue by King Minh Mang. Dai Lanh Beach has safe swimming conditions with calm, clear blue water and soft white sand.

Tourism potentials have been discovered for a long time, but up to now it has not been promoted effectively. Projects of hotel construction stared 20 years ago have postponed and cancelled until now.

Tran Dinh Thu, Chairperson of the Dai Lanh Commune People’s Committee said, “The beach zone from Suoi Dua Bridge to Co Ma Pass used to be managed by the Dai Lanh Commune People’s Committee. In 2009, 5-star Joint Stock Company was licensed to build a 17ha resort at Dai Lanh Beach. However, only some tourist kiosks, dinning rooms and small cottages have been set up.”

Safety management not assured

Dai Lanh Beach slopes gently to the sea. It looks harmless, but there are hidden dangers as dangerous rip currents may occur. On holidays, it is crowded with tourists, but safety management has not been fully assured. Danger signs and flags are too small to catch swimmers’ attention.

Tourism is one of the most exciting and profitable industries in Khanh Hoa. It is therefore a waste that Dai Lanh Beach has not been developed effectively. Local authorities and tourism sector need to work with existing investors as well as call for more investment to promote the tourism potential of Dai Lanh Beach.

Hopefully, Dai Lanh Beach will be “waken up” in the near future.
