Nguyen Thi Hoa, an owner of a clothing store at Binh Tan Market, Nha Trang City, said, “Since May, due to blazing hot weather, sun protective wear has become a best seller with a slight rise in prices compared with last year.”
There is a variety of effective sun protective materials such as cotton, khaki, denim, wool, etc. Young adults tend to choose fashionable designs available mostly in blue, pink, grey and black, which easily match with any colors of inner garments.
Coats with the trades PT2000, Nino Maxx and Blue Exchange have captured the market ranging from VND120,000 to VND260,000 each. 3-in-1 sun protective coats have come in offering three coverage options for varying degrees of sun protection combining coats, gloves and face masks. They are made of soft synthetic materials for comfort and durability.
Girls tend to choose stylish upper-body garment made of cotton in bright colors with floral patterns giving them a sense of comfort and coolness in summers. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, a seller at Xom Moi Market, Nha Trang City said, “The price is VND50,000-VND140,000 each dependent on materials. They are very convenient as the wearers do not need other accessories such as masks and gloves.”
However, masks and socks are still a must for many women when going out. It costs VND8,000-VND15,000/ pair of socks and VND5,000-VND15,000/ mask, up by VND1,000-VND3,000 compared with last year.
Besides, sunglasses have also hit the best-seller list. The most popular trades include Gucci, Boss, Versace and Rayban. In spite of the warning of counterfeit products which offer little or no protection against harmful UV sunrays, some customers have chosen them due to eye-catching appearance and cheap prices.
