Known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC has been the second world’s biggest fast food brand, just after the McDonald’s. KFC Vietnam opened its first restaurant in 1997. KFC has been recognized by the SuperBrands the top ten brands in Vietnam, together with other brands, namely Samsung, Sony, Vinamilk, Viettel, Big C, Toshiba, Honda, Nokia and LG.
KFC is holding a fast food market share of 60% in Vietnam serving some 20 million diners. Nha Trang is the KFC’s 14th location with Hoan Cau Restaurant at the Hoan Cau Trading Center opening on May 14 and KFC Restaurant at 2 Tran Quang Khai on June 1.
Located by the beach, KFC recusants are a perfect destination for local residents and tourists to relax, have a sea view and enjoy the famous fried chicken.
While its focus is fried chicken, KFC also offers a line of side dishes and desserts. Some other dishes are also served to satisfy Vietnamese people’s tastes and budgets such as crispy chicken salad, children rice porridge, chicken noodles, etc.
KFC also caters for high spenders with traditional fried children (VND79,000/3pieces), combo Share Njoy (VND132,000-205,000/portion) and so on. Many promotion programs, including EZ Menu and Special Thursday have been offered to attract customers.
Pornchai Thuratum, General Director of KFC Vietnam said, “The new feauture of KFC restaurants compared with other restraints are self-service. Delivery is also available here. In today’s age of convenience, fast food bings us great advanctages as it saves us much time.”
Like any other kinds of fast food brands, KFC are also facing challenges as consuming fast food on a regular basis leads to many health hazards. Fast food is loaded with calories from refined sugar and fat. However, sometimes when hanging out with friends or lovers, nibbling crispy fried children is ok .
Nha Trang is a potential fast food market. 3 or 4 KFC Vietnam restaurants are expected to open in Nha Trang City by end 2011 bringing the number of KFC restaurants to 105 nationwide.
