An sand sculpture exhibition themed “For a green planet” opened on Nha Trang Beach at 2-4 Square, Nha Trang City, in the coastal province of Khanh Hoa on June 12 as part of celebrations to mark Sea Festival 2011. 15 works by sculptors nationwide have brought special attraction to Sea Festival 2011. Sand through skilled hands have formed attractive images bearing messages of protecting environment and sea sovereignty.

“The cradle” by Sculptor Pham Thu Nga from Ho Chi Minh City is the image of two hands holding a bird’s nest depicting an effort to protect life, “Environmental destruction” by Sculptor Le Van with a dinosaur dying surrounded with discarded bottles and cans expresses a message that nothing can survive if the environment is destroyed. Other works include “Green Nha Trang” by Doan Xuan Hung with birds flying in the sky, “Home living”, etc.

In addition, some works such as “Going offshore”, “Sea fossils”, etc send the messages of both environmental preservation and protection of island and sea sovereignty. Through “going offshore”, Sculptor Pham Thu Nga expresses Vietnam’s determination in the protection of its islands and sea sovereignty.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Sales Manager of GTO Media Corporation said, “We hope the exhibition will make people think about protecting the environment and join hands to protect our green planet. The event aims to raise public awareness of protection of our living environment.”

Destruction of nature results from ignorance and lack of respect for the earth’s living things. The exhibition themed “for a green planet” has been a great success, an impressive event at the Sea Festival 2011.
