In recent years, Nha Trang has received an increasing number of cruise passengers. However, more work needs to be done to promote the image of Nha Trang City.

According to the latest figures released by the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism, since the beginning of the year, Khanh Hoa has received 24 cruise ships carrying around 28,100 international travelers.

34 liners with 35,500 passengers are expected to dock in Khanh Hoa Province in 2011. Nha Trang has become a regular destination for international cruise ships, including world’s leading ones such as Mary Queen 2 (In late March, 2011, Mary Queen 2 carried over 2,400 passengers and over 1,200 crew to Nha Trang).

Tan Hong Travel Company, Saigontourist Travel Service Company, etc in cooperation with relevant authorities have done a good job in receiving marine tourists. Cruise passengers have taken part in famous countryside and city tours to Nha Trang’s main attractions, including Nha Trang Oceanography Institute, Nha Trang XQ Center, Long Son Pagoda, Ponagar Temples, etc.

Nha Trang has made a good impression on tourists. Most of them are interested in discovering the local culture and customs. However, more work needs to be done to ensure that Nha Trang becomes a favorite stop-off for liners.

Most cruise passengers are high spenders. The lack of big shopping centers and typical tourist products in Khanh Hoa are preventing people from staying in the region for longer.

Only XQ embroidered pictures are the best option of wealthy and "sophisticated" shoppers. “Tours to ancient houses and traditional craft villages are not well organized.

Tourism infrastructures and facilities need to be improved,” added Vo Ngoc Dung, Deputy Chief of the tourism office, the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism.

Nha Trang has seen an increasing number of marine tourists. With the local government’s effort, Nha Trang is expected to become a popular stop-off for liners.
