To exploit this natural resource effectively, the company has incessantly stepped up scientific research and technology improvement in production to become a key business in the province in recent years. Up to now, the trademark “Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest” has become popular in the country.
The company also has done many works to protect environment and ecology for the birds such as setting up wave stopping dams and roofs for salangane caves. Additionally, expansion of salangane population and their caves has been attached importance. From 8 islands initially, the company now is managing 28 islands with 132 nesting caves.
Accordingly, yield of salangane nest has increased gradually. The figures are 1,901kg in 2011, 2,242kg in 2005 and 3,120kg in 2010. Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest is rated to have top-ranking quality in the world. Therefore, its price has risen incessantly from USD600/kg in 1978 to USD3,500/kg now.
In its development strategy, the company defines that basing on salangane nest resource, the company manufactures many various kinds of products with the aim to bring the high-class nutrition to consumers.
Sanest Soft Drink Factory opened in 2003 with a capacity 5 million products a year. The figure has gone up to 30 million in 2011. Sanest Food Factory, starting operation in 2007, produced Sanest Cake and Moon cake with salangane nest in stuffing for the first time. The company also is building another soft drink factory in Cam Ranh whose capacity is four times higher than the first one.
Beside this, Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company has succeeded in developing island tourism and other services such as restaurant, hotel, food and farm product process for export. The company achieved a turnover of VND1,185 billion in 2010.
Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest now has become the top salangane nest trademark in the country and a prestigious trademark in international market. The valuable and rare specialty also contributes to introduce Vietnam’s image abroad.
