Nypa fruticans are sold in Khanh Hoa for the first time.
This is the first time Nypa fruticans have been carried from Ben Tre to Khanh Hoa. This time is the harvest season for the  mangrove palm.

Along 23-10 Street linking Dien Khanh District to Nha Trang City, you may see many vendors selling Nypa fruticans.

Nguyen Van Toan, a farmer in Giong Trom (Ben Tre) said, “The Nypa frutican harvest is underway with a high productivity.”

Toan and some other farmers transport the fruits to Khanh Hoa for sales. This is the first time Nypa fruticans have been available in Khanh Hoa.

Nypa fruticans are quite expensive ranging from VND20,000 to VND40,000 each. Due to the transport cost, the retail price in Khanh Hoa jumps to some VND100,000/ bunch (50 – 70 fruits).

Another vendor named Thu said, “The high price is due to the transport cost for a long distance from Ben Tre to Khanh Hoa.” He can earn VND100,000 a day.

In the Philippines and Malaysia, Nypa fruticans can be used to produce a local alcoholic beverage and Nipa palm vinegar.

In addition, nypa fruticans are believed to demonstrate significant pain-relieving activity and has great potential as an alternative remedy.
