Impressive human chess matches were staged in Nha Trang during the first days of the Lunar New Year City as an interesting welcome to tourists.
Human chess has become a typical sporting event in Nha Trang Seaside City, especially during national holidays and festivals. Human chess is often played at 2-4 Square, where people take on the role of chess pieces.
The chessboard is marked by paint on flat ground. A move that results in a piece being taken and then removed from the board will cause a choreographed fight to be played out, to determine whether the piece is actually taken.
32 martial arts students from Bich Quang Martial Art Club joined the event.
A visitor named Tran Thanh Binh From Ho Chi Minh City said, "This is the first time I have spent the Tet holiday in Nha Trang City and seen such an interesting human chess game."
4 excellent chess players named Le Van Ngan, Do Ngoc Thanh, Luu Minh Hiep and Ha Duy Tan were qualified for the semifinal and final held on the fourth and fifth day of the Lunar New Year respectively. Luu Minh Hiep won the 2-hour final game against Le Van Ngan.
