Many hotels join Earth Hour 2012

Earth Hour 2012 will take place from 8:30 to 21:30 on March 31. Big hotels will have interesting programs responded to this meaningful event.

Sunrise Nha Trang Beach Hotel & Spa will turn off unnecessary lights around the hotel and propagandize messages of Earth Hour on its news to call for electricity save. Guests will also be appealed to join the event. Moreover, the hotel will hold a romantic buffet with candle light and music by swimming pool during that time. Other places in the hotel, including Imperial Restaurant, Hanabusa Restaurant, Sky lounge Bar and Irish Pub will also become sparkling in candle light.

Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel supports the event by practical activities. On March 24, employees of the hotel collected rubbish around Khanh Hoa Social Sponsorship Center . All restaurants, bars, coffee shops and 75% of the room will become non-smoking. From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 31, Sheraton will turn off lights and electronic equipment. Guests are encouraged to turn off lights in their rooms and take part in a light cocktail party at Connexions Bar.

According to Catherine Racsko, general director of Sheraton Nha Trang, with an aim to become a hotel friendliest with environment in Vietnam , the hotel will have recycle bin in rooms. Currently the hotel is using water-saving sanitary wares, world-class sanitary chemicals with a pH of 6.5 and laundry matters automatically disintegrating in sewage in 28 days, she added.

Champa Island Resort, joining the event for the first time, will use candle lights instead of electric lights during one hour while a music show will be held at Champa garden.

Other hotels such as Novotel, Yasaka, Michelia and Hon Tam also will have similar activities to celebrate Earth Hour.

“Nha Trang is a tourist city, so environment protection is very important. Joining a meaningful event like Earth Hour is always encouraged to appeal the residents and tourists to protect environment, reducing the risk of climate change”, said Truong Dang Tuyen, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
