Vietnam has a large number of policies and programs specifically designed to boost the development of ethnic minority areas. These programs and policies have paid attention to a wide range of socio-economic issues related to ethnic minority groups and are targeted in different ways.
Thanks to socio-economic development strategy in ethnic minority areas, the life of residents in Khanh Vinh District has gradually improved. |
Over the past years, the national socio-economic development program in ethnic minority regions and mountainous areas has gained satisfactory results, contributing greatly to poverty reduction.
Besides, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province, has also focused on Khanh Hoa provincial socio-economic development strategy to improve its image.
Khanh Vinh Mountainous District is home to many ethnic minority groups. Thanks to implementation of socio-economic development programs in ethnic minority regions and mountainous areas, the socio-economic picture of Khanh Vinh District has much improved with 60% of roads being asphalted, 95% of residents having access to clean water, 1,584 households being offered housing assistance, 100% of local communes having first-aid stations, etc.
Policies related to healthcare, education, land, information culture, credit and so on have been synchronously carried out.
Over the past 5 years, 1,636 families have been provided 470 breeding cows. In addition, 1,370 families have had access to business loans with a total cost of tens of millions dongs.
However, despite remarkable progress in poverty reduction, Khanh Vinh District still sees local people's low intellectual standard, poor labor force quality, high poverty rate, etc.
With the socio-economic development program in ethnic minority regions and mountainous areas, 2012-2015 period, Khanh Vinh District strives to reduce the poverty rate by 7%/ year on average with 98% of the residents having access to electricity and 95% to clean water, 100% of working-age group being provided with economic development knowledge, etc.
The program aims to improve the material and spiritual lives of poor people, contributing to narrowed gap of income and living standards between rural and urban areas.
