Nha Trang will host an international sailboat racing in June 16 & 17, diversifying sea sports activities in the famous tourist city.
Owning to the long and beautiful sea and favorable climate, Nha Trang is known as an ideal place not only for tourism but for sea sports events.
To develop sailing in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with High Tide Sailing and Focus Travel to organize a sailboat racing on Nha Trang sea.
The race called Evason Ana Mandara Sailboats Racing and hosted by Evason Ana Mandara Resort is one of events of the Regatta Series 2012, a series of sailing boat races held in four places, including Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet.
The race will take place on June 16 and 17 in Nha Trang with the participation of 17 teams. Each team will comprise two racers (One is Vietnamese and another is foreign). The teams will take part in amateur and professional competitions on 4.3 kilometers, from the waters in front of Evason Ana Mandara Resort to that in front of Novotel Hotel.
19 sailboats will serve the race, including Q’BAS ones with 3.7 meters in length and HTR460 ones with 4.6 meters in length. All the racing sailboats, belonging to and Tide Aqua - Rhum Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., are qualified for international standards in sports sailing. They were also used for two sailing tournaments in Vung Tau and Phan Thiet.
The race will be kept out of the swimming areas. Every tourists and local people can watch the race. There will be an area for spectators.
With careful preparations, Evason Ana Mandara Sailboats Racing in Nha Trang is expectted to be a remarkable sports event. The race not only will promote sailing in Nha Trang but will draw a large number of tourists to the beautiful coastal city. It is also seen as a good opportunity to promote sea tourism potential of Nha Trang and Vietnam in general.
