The green growth has become the mainstream of sustainable economic development in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emission, responding to climate change.
This is a general target of the National green growth strategy which has just been approved by the Prime Minister.
Green Growth is a path of economic growth which uses natural resources in a sustainable manner.
In the period 2011 – 2020, main tasks include the greenhouse gas emission intensity down by 8-10% compared to the normal level, energy consumption per capita down by 1-1.5%/year.
By 2030, the total greenhouse gas emission will be reduced by 1.5-2%/year and greenhouse gas emission intensity in energy activities down by 20 - 30% compared with normal development plan.
Green production
By 2020, the value of products from high-technology and green technology industries will account 42 to 45% of the GDP while 80% of manufactures and businesses will meet environmental standards.
50% of the manufacturing sites in the country are expected to adopt clean technologies. The initiative is to promote environmentally friendly green production that uses natural resources more efficiently.
Green lifestyle
Another main goal is to foster a green lifestyle and sustainable consumption with the combination of traditional values and modern comforts.
By 2020, 60% of urban centers type III will have a standard waste treatment system. The strategy is an effort to achieve a low-carbon economy.
