Believed by consumers owning to good quality and price, Vietnamese products have predominated in supermarkets in Khanh Hoa Province.
In recent years, Vietnamese products have overwhelmed imports in supermarkets, especially food, chemical cosmetics, consumer goods and garments.
In Co.opMart Cam Ranh, Vietnamese goods makes up 90%, revealed Pham Van Tai, marketing manager of the supermarkets. It results from strategy to increase Vietnamese goods sale and popularize services here. Especially, the supermarket has repayment policy for domestic manufacturers who are potential but lack capital. For instance, chicken sold at Co.opMart Cam Ranh are purchased from prestigious suppliers and breeding farms satisfying HACCP standard such as Dong Nai Foodstuff Company, Binh Minh Company, Pham Ton Company and Son Ha Company. Additionally, the supermarket frequently launches promotional programs and sells Vietnamese goods to rural and remote areas.
The rate of Vietnamese goods in Maximark Nha Trang is 75% - 80%. “Maximark has purchased goods directly from domestic producers without intermediaries. We also have many discounts, mainly on necessities”, said Doan Thi Tho, director of the supermarket.
Local products are given priority in supermarkets. For example, Citimart has a specific zone for the province’s specialties like Chin Tuy fish sauce, 584 Nha Trang fish sauce, Dai Thuan squid, baked banana cake, mango cake, Thuy Lien sweet potato wafer, Tri Tin sea grapes, etc. Domestic products like meat, poultry, vegetable, fruits, rice, cooking oil, chemical cosmetics… also occupy a large rate here.
With advantages of clear origin, variety in kinds and good prices, Vietnamese products are chosen by most buyers.
Pham Thi Chuc, a housewife in Nha Trang, shared, “I’m very afraid of no-origin products, so I often do shopping in supermarkets. Vietnamese products are good but cheaper than imports.”
According to the development planning for markets, supermarkets and malls in Khanh Hoa Province till 2020, medium and large supermarkets and malls will be focused on to invest.
As expected, the province will have about 20 supermarkets, not only in cities of Nha Trang and Cam Ranh but in districts of Ninh Hoa, Van Ninh, Dien Khanh and Khanh Vinh. Then, sales via supermarkets and malls will make up 40% the total retail sale of the province.
