Ministry of Planning and Investment checks Van Phong Economic Zone

A mission of the Ministry of Planning and Investment led by Minister Bui Quang Vinh on April 24 made a practical check-up at Van Phong Economic Zone. Participating the mission were Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Chien Thang and leaders of some related departments.

The mission came to  Hyundai VinaShin Shipyard and Van Phong Petroleum Warehouse, Hon Gom Island, Hon Lon Island and some small island in Van Phong Bay. Then, the mission will have a discussion with Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to solve problems in calling investment in Van Phong and some issues on Northern Van Phong Economic – Administrative Special Zone.

According to the planning till 2020, Van Phong Economic Zone will have an area of 150,000 hectares, including 70,000 hectares of land, 80,000 hectares of sea water. Up to now, the economic zone has drawn 126 projects worth USD13.8 billion, including 29 foreign invested ones and 97 domestic ones. 46 projects have been put into operation, 64 have been granted certificate of investment and in progress and 16 are in investment procedure. Some projects have operated well such as Hyundai VinaShin Shipyard and Van Phong Petroleum Warehouse.
