After three years of implementing Decree 41 by the Government on credit policies to serve agriculture and rural development, credit funds have improved local agriculture, creating more jobs and partly developing rural areas in Khanh Hoa Province.
By the loan from Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development, Pham Van Phan’ s family in Dien Tho Commune, Dien Khanh District has expanded their chicken raising farms. His family lent up to VND500 million for their farm which has 6,000 hens and a number of wild pigs and chickens. “The loans from bank help us expand farms and purchase machines. Now, our debt is only about VND100 million”, Phan said.

According to the State Bank – Khanh Hoa Branch, credit institutions have given care to rural areas. “Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development – Khanh Hoa Branch reported VND1,710 billion in loans for agriculture and rural areas. Best effects were seen in agriculture, forestry, fishery and salt production with VND750 billion in loans, followed by seafood and farm product process”, said deputy director Nguyen Dinh Cuong.
Till August, 2013, VND3,283 billion was lent to 129,200 customers in agriculture and rural development, making up 13.73% of the total loans in the whole province and increasing by 10.68% over 2010.
The amount of loans for building new rural areas from 2012 to June, 2013 was VND5,895 billion.
