As the Ministry of Finance applied price ceiling to 25 milk products from June 1, some dairy firms have started lowering their prices.
The products in the list are of five big dairy enterprises, namely the Vietnam Dairy Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), 3A Nutrition (Vietnam) Ltd Company, Nestle Vietnam Ltd Company, Friesland Campina Vietnam Ltd Company and Mead Johnson Nutrition (Vietnam) Ltd Company. Some of the products are Dielac Alpha, Friso Gold, Frisolac Gold, Enfamil, Enfagrow A+, Similac and Lactogen.
According to the Ministry of Finance’s regulation, the decrease in the wholesale milk prices will be applied from June 1, while the the retail price cut will be no later than June 20.
In Nha Trang, the decrease in milk price has been seen in some supermarkets. For example, from June 3, Co.opmart Nha Trang has applied new retail prices for 12 dairy products, including 5 of Abbott, 2 of Nestle and 5 of Mead Johnson. The new prices are VND38,000 – VND205,00/can lower than the old ones. “The supermarket is dealing with two suppliers Dutch Lady and Vinamilk to have the best prices soon”, said Nguyen Quoc Cuong, marketing manager of the supermarket.

Khuat Quang Hung, marketing & communication manager of Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, said, "Since milk price ceilings were applied, many dairy products in the supermarket have cut price. We will stop selling products whose suppliers don’t adjust prices right to the regulation.”
However, up to now, many shops and agencies in Nha Trang haven’t received new prices from milk firms.
The decrease in milk prices is expected by many consumers. “I intended to buy 6 cans at the same time, but now I buy only one because I’m waiting for the milk price lowered to buy more products for my children”, said a consumer in Nha Trang.
