Electric bicycles now are used by many people in Nha Trang. The demand also has risen sharply when the new school year is coming.

In Nha Trang, there are many stores selling electric bicycles, mainly in Thong Nhat Street, Sinh Trung Street and some other streets around Dam Market.

Hoang Thanh, owner of a store in Sinh Trung Street, revealed, “These days, my store sells tens of electric bicycles each day.”

Dominating the current market is locally made electric bicycles. Familiar brand names are Hitasa, Asama, Giannya, Emperor and Yasuki. Such an electric bicycle costs from VND7 million to VND9.5 million.

Electric bicycles with maximum speed of 40 kilometers, reasonable price and easy to ride are often used by high-school students and the elderly.

Beside made-in-Vietnam electric bicycles, there are many colorful electric bicycles at the current market. These bicycles are said to be imported from China or Japan, VND4 million – VND7 million more expensive than the domestic ones. However, owner of store on Thong Nhat Street named Hoang Gioi, advised, “The domestic electric bicycles are not as good-looking as the imported but their quality is far better. Battery, damper and motor are important parts of an electric bicycles buyers should pay attention. Origin, technical certificate and warranty stamp also are required for a good product.”

“The National Technical Regulation on electric bicycles has taken effect since January 1, 2014. Therefore, all electric bicycles have to be verified, granted certificate and have standard stamp on each. Products manufactured or imported before that time have no standard stamp. Consumers should check the stamp and document carefully when buying electric bicycles”, said Pham Van Huu, Deputy Chief of Khanh Hoa Provincial Market Management Branch.
