Women in Ninh Hoa Town help each other to develop economy

Through numerous practical and effective activities, Ninh Hoa Town Women's Association has helped many poor women to escape poverty. Besides, the association has also organized many humanitarian and gratitude activities.

Vo Thi My (Hamlet Phuoc Da 3, Ninh Da Ward) used to suffer many financial difficulties. She and her husband could not work because of their poor health; therefore, her family had to live on the salary of their son. Ninh Da Commune Women’s Association helped her to borrow money from mortgage loans. With the amount of money borrowed, she bought cows and now she earned tens of VND million a year from the sale of calves. In the mid-year of 2014, her family could afford to repair their house and recently bought household items.

Thanks to mortgage loan, Huynh Thi Thu Van’s family has gone out of poverty.


Huynh Thi Thu Van, Hang Doi Hamlet, Ninh Phu Commune, also received the help from the town women’s association to escape poverty and get rich. Thanks to the loan, she invested in wine brewery, pig husbandry, onion planting, and snail farming. Nowadays, she paid off her mortgage and earns an income of nearly VND150 million per year.


According to Doan Thi Luc, Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town Women’s Union, in 2014, the town had over 2,100 poor households in which there were 1,002 poor women households. From the beginning of 2014 until now, the women’s association in the localities of Ninh Hoa Town has helped 720 poor women to borrow loans worth more than VND500 million in total. Up to now, 125 households have been lifted out of poverty.


The association also associated with the Center of Encouraging Agricultural Expansion and Farmer’s Association to hold training courses on farming and food safety to provide knowledge and experience to the members.


In addition, Ninh Hoa Town Women’s Union has also promoted many humanitarian and gratitude activities. Through some saving models like “piggy bank” and “saving rice jar”, the association has collected over VND244 million and more than 8,000 kg of rice to help over 700 poor women and disabled women to overcome difficulties and develop economy.


Moreover, the association has also mobilized people to build 13 houses of love and helped four poor women to repair their houses; paid visits and offered gifts to orphans in the town.


Reportedly, in 2015, Ninh Hoa Town Women’s Association sets targets to help more than 80% of poor women to alleviate poverty, in which 30% of households will be lifted out of poverty; help 80% of women making loans to join training course on scientific and technical transfer, business knowledge.
