Positive effects of main socioeconomic programs in Khanh Son District

     In 2014, Khanh Son District (Khanh Hoa Province) carried out many  socioeconomic programs and gained positive results.

 

Ba Cum Nam Commune upgraded water supply system, invested over VND4 billion by the National Target Program. The new system has been very useful for the local people. Cao Bay, a resident in Hon Gam Hamlet, said that having running water, more than 360 households here now don’t have to go to far streams to take water any more. Cao Minh Vy, chairman of Ba Cum Nam People’s Committee added, “Previously, the people here used unclear stream water, which caused many diseases. Owning to the clean water, the number of cases getting skin and bowel diseases have decreased deeply.”

 

The water supply work in Ba Cum Nam Commune was only one of many ones funded by the National Target Program on building new rural areas in Khanh Son District. Also from the fund, the district invested about VND5 billion in the second stage of Son Lam Secondary School, and VND2.5 billion in the work of running water to Ko Lak Hamlet and Group 10, Lien Binh Hamlet in Son Binh Commune. Besides, the district supported 156 households and cooperatives to carry out production models with VND1.5 billion totally. The models have been appreciated well.

 

Along with the National Target Program on building new rural areas, Khanh Son District implemented other focused programs. Specifically, the urban development program expanded Provincial Road 9 linking Ba Cum Bac Commune to To Hap Town, and upgraded Hai Ba Trung Street (To Hap Town) with total expenditure of over VND2.8 billion.

 

The socioeconomic development program in ethnic minority and mountainous areas opened 11 classes to raise awareness of law for 685 ethnic minority people, built civil works, supported in developing production and building production models for 40 poor and near poor households, and supported loans for production.

 

The human resource development program opened a primary political theory course and an intermediate one as well as sent cadres to classes of leadership. The program also built the second stage of Thanh Son Primary and Secondary School with an expenditure of over VND3.9 billion.

 

Khanh Son District has set target for 2015 that one commune (Son Binh) will complete new rural area building, one commune (Son Hiep) will achieve 12 out of 19 standards of a new rural area, communes of Thanh Son, Son Lam, Son Trung and Ba Cum Nam will be qualified for 11 out of the 19 standards, and Ba Cum Bac Commune will get 10 standards.

 

It’s possible to see that the effective implementation of the main socioeconomic programs has made the district’s appearance better. “Thanks to such programs, there have been more concrete roads making travel and transportation easily, better water supply for the local peoples, and more health centers as well as schools upgraded”, confirmed Mau Thai Cu, vice-chairman of the district People’s Committee.
