Expectations of fishery export in 2015

In 2014, overcoming difficulties, fishery export of Khanh Hoa Province fulfilled the year’s target of USD446 million in export turnover. Enterprises expect fishery export to rise more in 2015.

 

According to statistics of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province has over 1,000 enterprises purchasing and processing seafood, including 44 exporters. At present, seafood of Khanh Hoa has existed in 64 countries and territories. The US, Japan and EU are main markets, making up 75% of the whole market.

 

In 2014, Khanh Hoa exported 83,000 tons of fishery worth USD466 million, exceeding the year’s target by 0.2% and increasing by 0.4% over 2013. According to director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the results were owning to the good fishing and aquaculture. In addition, enterprises actively purchased enough materials for process. Moreover, fishery enterprises in the province confirming trademark and prestige maintained traditional markets and developed new markets.

 

 

About fishery export of the province in 2015, many enterprises expect this year is a time for fishery export to make breakthrough as the Government has many policies to encourage export of strategic commodities. Additionally, shortcomings in tax and custom formalities have been improved, facilitating the development of enterprises.

 

To reach the target of USD470 million in fishery export, Khanh Hoa fishery is focusing on implementing Strategy on fishery development till 2020, Planning on fishery development till 2020 and orientation till 2030 and Project on restructuring fishery in the direction of raising value and developing stably; and developing Decree 67 of the Government on some fishery developing policies. Accordingly, about aquaculture, the province’s fishery focuses on guiding and supervising cropping, supporting the development of infrastructures for aquaculture areas, reorganizing production in aquaculture, expanding aquaculture according to VietGAP model, preventing diseases, supervising chemical use in aquaculture. About exploiting and protecting fishery, the province will effectively develop contents of Decree 67 and Model project on exploiting, purchasing, processing, selling tunas in chain in Khanh Hoa; promoting measures to increase product quality after fishing.

 

The province has set targets of 22,500 tons in aquaculture and 87,500 tons in fishing. Ensuring materials for processing factories is an important factor partly solving difficulties for fishery enterprises to fulfill the targets in 2015.
