Cam Thanh Bac Commune veteran association: helping each other to do business

In recent years, the veteran association in Cam Thanh Bac Commune (Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province) has offered supports to its members to do business and stepped up the emulation movement in doing business. Thanks to those supports, many members have gone out of poverty.

Thai Lap Tu’s family used to be a poor household in Tan Sinh Dong Hamlet. Returning to the hamlet from the army, Thai Lap Tu faced a lot of difficulties in life. His and his wife’s low income was not enough to cover their everyday needs and their children’s study. Tu worked hard to break the fresh ground and improve soil quality to plan fruit trees and raise livestock and poultry. However, he could not develop his business because of the lack of funds. The commune veteran association lent him more thanVND50 million to invest in planting fruit trees and keeping chickens. Thanks to the support, his family now can earn an annual income of over VND80 million.

Also thanks to the help from the commune veteran association, Truong Thanh Huong’s family has escaped poverty and get rich. With more than VND50 million borrowed from the association, Huong has grown Australian mango trees, breeding salamander and wild boar, bringing him an income of over VND100 million every year.


In recent years, Cam Thanh Bac Commune veteran association has signed agreements with Cam Lam District Social Policy Bank to take out a loan of more than VN6.3 billion to help 300 members of the association. In addition, the association has raised some funds and raised over VND100 million for the members to borrow at low interest rate to purchase necessary manufacturing facilities. This has helped 50 members to be out of poverty and start to contribute actively to the economic-social development in the locality. “With the supports from the veteran association, up till now, all members’ family has escaped poverty,” said Le Cong Luong, head of the commune veteran association.


Besides, the veteran association has also coordinated with some organizations to open training classes on science, technology and economic models which are suitable o the local conditions; promote propaganda activities about changing plants and domestic animal and building economic models providing high efficiency. Therefore, the spiritual life of the members has been improved gradually.


Cam Thanh Bac Commune veteran association has been granted many merit certificates for its achievements gaining through recent years. The veteran association has asserted the role and position of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in a new field.
