Tranfering science and technology into agricultural production has been paid much care and got remarkable results, which has partly sped up transference of crop plants and domestic animals’ structure matching Khanh Hoa Province’s planning and features.
According to Le Tan Ban, director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, bringing science and technology into agricultural production is one of important requirements for industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas. It’s also a main measure in the process of restructuring agriculture towards raising value added and sustainable development.

Many science and technology applications have showed effectiveness, especially experimenting and bringing varieties into rearing and planting in the province such as Australian mango, Hoa Loc sweet mango, durian in Khanh Son District, garlic in Ninh Hoa Town, and green-skin pomelo in Khanh Vinh District. Particularly, 80% of rice and sugarcane which are two main plants of the province have been applied new varieties. In breeding, 70% of the cows have been cross bred. In fishery, some kinds of seafood potential for export like white-leg shrimp, grouper, pearl, sweet snail, abalone, etc. In addition, farmers have been supported in investing machines for agricultural production.
The transference has partly executed the program supporting science – technology application for socioeconomic development in rural and mountainous areas in the period of 2011 – 2015 and contributed to stabilizing life of ethnic minority people in two mountainous districts Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh. The province also has set up a high-technology agricultural center and a seed experimenting farm. Additionally, a high-quality fishery breeding farm is being built up in Ninh Van Commune, Ninh Hoa Town. These are foundations to transfer some new breeders for agricultural production, models of high-tech agricultural production, etc.
