Dac Loc Hamlet is a big vegetable growing area in Nha Trang. However, previously most farmers here produced vegetable from their experience. They didn’t follow regulations on safe vegetable production, didn’t irrigate initially, didn’t harvest suitably, which influenced quality of end-products. Sales mainly are at markets with unstable prices.
To develop chain to supply safe vegetable in Nha Trang, from early 2015, Khanh Hoa Agricultural, Forest and Fishery Product Quality Management Branch and Nha Trang Economic Department jointly surveyed vegetable growing areas in the province. Accoringly, Dac Loc Hamlet has been selected to carry out the model with 9 households farming on 1.7 hectares. After one year, with their determination and the support from professional agencies, up to now, vegetable produced by Safe Vegetable Growing Cooperative of Dac Loc Hamlet has been certificated to meet VietGAP standards by Agricultural, Forest and Fishery Product Quality Center – Region 3.
