Building more tourist ships
According to Vo Ngoc Tuan, deputy director of Cam Ranh Shipyard Co., Ltd., so far this year, the company has finished 3 ships, including one for a fisherman in Phu Yen with capacity of 1,000CV, worth VND16 billion; one for fisherman in Ninh Thuan with capacity of 829CV, worth VND14.5 billion and the other for Vinh Tan Thermo-electric Plant, worth VND5 billion. At present, the plant is building 6 ships promptly, including 3 steel-shell ships worth VND18 billion/each and 3 tourist ships. These are the first tourist ships the company has built. The company makes their steel shells worth about VND6 billion each while their machines are imported by the ships’ owners. If the three ships ensure quality and progress, the company will sign contract to make more 7 tourist ships.

Cooperating with vocational training schools
According to Le Quang Lam – general director of Cam Ranh Shipyard Co., Ltd., as tourism is developing strongly, potentials of tourist ships in Nha Trang and neighboring areas becomes bigger. Therefore beside ship building contract under Decree 67, the number of tourist ship building contracts also is rising.
However, the company needs more laborers to carried out more contracts. Therefore, from the beginning of the year, the company has signed cooperation contract with Cam Ranh Vocational Training College and Cam Lam Vocational Training College in training and recruitment.
“We’ve signed contracts with vocational training schools in order to receive good students for practice after theory study. Then, we will recruit the best students. We’ve recruited the first seven students. A worker can earn about VND10 million/month”, said Vo Ngoc Tuan, deputy director of the company.
