Socioeconomic development program for ethnic minority people in the period of 2016 – 2020 in Khanh Hoa Province is expected to be a main impetus to partly improve difficult areas in the province.
According to Le Duc Vinh – Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, this program is not only a socioeconomic development one but also zeal of the provincial leadership generations to the lands where many people sheltered revolutionary soldiers. Thus, in the Resolution of the provincial Party Congress for the term of 2015 – 2020, the socioeconomic development program for ethnic minority people and mountainous areas continues to be one of four main programs of the province.

During the past years, the socioeconomic development program for ethnic minority people and mountainous areas has contribute in changing the appearance of mountainous areas in the province. In the period of 2011 – 2015, the province invested more than VND323 billion for socioeconomic development in 40 communes of Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Cam Lam, Dien Khanh, Ninh Hoa and Cam Ranh. As a result, the rate of poor in these localities decreased by 6.6%/year; 80% of the communes had traffic roads to concentrated production areas; 85% of communes and hamlets had neccesary public works; 98% of ethnic minority households used electricity from the national grid; 90,6% of the population in the mountainous area used clean water, etc.
In the draft of the socioeconomic development program for ethnic minority people in the period of 2016 – 2020, the province targets to lower the number of poor households by 4 – 5%/year and raise average income of ethnic minorities people to VND12 million/person/year, the rate of people using clean water to 95%, the rate of trained laborers to 45%, etc.
