Thai Lap Tu’s family in Tan Sinh Dong, Cam Thanh Bac Commune, Cam Lam District used to be a poor household. With the support of the commune Veteran’s Assocication, his family was given a loan of VND50 million by the Bank for Social Policies for planting and breeding. Now, his family has grown a 3-hectare orchard that gives VND100 million after expenses. “Thanks to the capital borrowed from the Bank for Social Policies, we has escaped from poverty, paid the debt, built a good house and raise my children well”, Tu said.
Another case is Nguyen Thi Le’s family (in Nhu Xuan 2 Hamlet, Vinh Phuong Commune, Nha Trang City) who used to have no clean water and toilet in their house. Then, she was lent VND12 million by the Bank for Social Policies to install clean water system and toilet. Her family was also lent VND20 million to raise over 200 rabbits and grow over 1.5 hectares of cashew nut trees. Therefore, her family can earn an income of about VND5 million a month.

Confiding the significance of preferential credit, Khanh Hoa Province has given best conditions to the bank system for social policies in the province. According to Truong Thi Thanh Tung, deputy director of the provincial Bank for Social Policies, 137 transaction offices have been set up at commune level so far. Only from 2015 to now, the bank has lent more than VND600 billion to over 40,000 households. The credit has helped many households in the province develop their business, use clean water, keep environment, ensure living, etc. It also has contributed in building new areas.
To uphold the effectiveness of social policies, Khanh Hoa Province has implemented measures Instructions given by the Secretariat of the Central Party Committee. Specifically, a portion of the annual State budget has been alloted to policty credit. In addition, mobilization for policy credit associated with rural development, education, vocational training, job creation, social security, poverty reduction, etc. Besides, propaganda for social policy credit to the people has been intensified…
