Tuan An Energy Group JSC is the first business asking to invest a solar power project. On August 20, 2015, Cam Ranh City People’s Committee along with relevant departments and Tuan An Energy Group JSC jointly carried out a survey in two communes Cam Thinh Dong and Cam Thinh Tay to choose a location for a solar power plant. The investor has chosen an area in Thinh Son Hamlet, Cam Thinh Tay Commune for its considerable solar radiation. This project is planned to have a total capacity of 10MWp. It will be invested VND401.4 billion on an area of 10.6 hectares. When finished, the project will be connected with the nation grid. Tuan An Energy Group JSC was also the investor of the grid by solar power in Ninh Tan Hamlet, Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District in 2014.
Song Giang Hydropower Joint Stock Company is another enterprise applying for investing a solar power plant in Hoa Son Hamlet, Cam Thinh Dong Commune and Thinh Son Hamlet, Cam Thinh Tay Commune. This plant’s capacity is set to be 60MWp in capacity. It will cover an area of 60.7 hectares.
Central Power Corporation is also proposing investing a solar power plant in Thinh Son Hamlet. The project is planned to have capacity of 50MWp with total investment of about VND1,904 billion on an area of 95 hectares.
Hanoi Construction - Industrial Investment Joint Stock Company has just asked permission to invest a solar power plant with 300MWp in capacity on total area of 541 hectares. Investment for the first stage is VND1,650 billion.

According to Nguyen Minh Hai, Head of Cam Ranh City Economic Department, the provincial People’s Committee has agreed about the project of Tuan An Energy Group JSC. The others are being verified. Such solar power plants are opening a new industry in Cam Ranh City.
According to Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, average solar radiation in Cam Ranh City is 5,34kWh/m2/day. The figures in the two communes Cam Thinh Dong and Cam Thinh Tay are much higher. It’s a favorable condition for renewable energy. Connection into the national grid is also easy here.
The provincial Department of Industry and Trade, professional organs of Cam Ranh City and electricity units of Cam Ranh City and Khanh Son District have jointly carried field survey, define locations and boundaries between areas for the suggested projects.
According to Cam Ranh City People’s Committee, the areas suggested to build solar power plants are burning hot, so they are ineffective to agriculture. Therefore, the solar power projects may decrease land waste and raise power output from the renewable energy.
