Purchase power on the rise
At bookstores in Nha Trang City like Phuong Nam, Thong Nhat, Tan Tien, Vinh Phuoc, Fahasa, Khanh Hoa Book and School Equipment Joint Stock Company, etc., school-books and school-things are on sale in large number.
Right from May, Khanh Hoa Book and School Equipment Joint Stock Company made plan to supply school-books and school-things for the new school-year in the whole province. Hundreds of buyers come to the company for shopping each day. Director of the company Tran Ho Nam revealed that the company has prepared more than 2.5 million school-books, 500,000 reference books and cirriculla, 130,000 books for VNEN program. Till June 20, the company sold out 2 books. School-books for the new school year have no change over those last year, except English book for the 5th grade.

Phuong Nam Store also have stored about 73,000 school-books, 50,000 reference books, 32,000 notebooks and a large number of school-things. “School-book sales at the bookstore has risen by 20% as normal and by 5% year-on-year. Only in the first week of June, the bookstore sold 4,000 school-books and 2,000 reference books. School-thing sales have increased by 10 – 20% year-on-year”, said Nguyen Thanh Hung, director of Phuong Nam Bookstore.
At Khanh Hoa Book Distribution Joint Stock Company, school-book purchase also has gone up by 10% and school-thing purchase has risen by 15% year-on-year.
Dominating notebook market this year are still well-known trademarks like But Cau, Hoa Binh, Thuan Tien, Tan Tien, etc. with a lot of good-looking cover designs. Notebooks are selling from VND7,000 to VND15,000.
School-things like pen cases, erasers, pencil-sharpeners, rulers, compasses, crayons, scissors, etc. are very abundant. They are made in Vietnam, China, Korea, Thailand, Japan, etc.
Locally-made pens of Thien Long, Ben Nghe keep selling well owing to their good quality. School-bags of Vietnamese producers like Miti, Mr Vui, Viet Vo, Du Duc Thanh, etc. are also favorite.
Many promotions
To stimulate the purchase, bookstores have many promotions. From now to August 31, Khanh Hoa Book and School Equipment Joint Stock Company is offering 10% discount on school-books and reference books and 5% - 10% discount on school-things. From now to September 15, all the bookstores of the company are offering free school-book wrapping for buyers, 5% discount on notebooks and 5% - 205 discount on school-bags.
Phuong Nam Bookstore is also giving 10% off to a set of school-books, 10% off to school-bags, 15% - 20% discount on pens, etc. Besides, with bills of over VND500,000 for school-books and school-things, customers have a chance to buy one product like pen case, handbook, literary book for teenager, crayons, etc with the price of only VND1,000.
