Over one year, the project on clean water, sanitation and community development in Hon Du Hamlet, Khanh Nam Commune, Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa has had initial effects.
According to Phan Dinh Huan, Vice-chairman of the provincial Red Cross, the project was carried out from June, 2015 to June, 2016 with total expenditure of VND1.3 billion, including over VND800 million funded by the Norwegian Red Cross and VND470 million by Khanh Vinh District People’s Committee. The project has built pipe system to supply clean water for more than 200 households in Hon Du Hamlet, built 34 toilets, given 358 grapefruit trees for 66 households, supplied 68 breeding pigs for 34 poor households, etc.
Nong Thi Mai’s family is one of poor household enjoying the project. The project has installed clean water and water tank, built toilets, given two pigs and grapefruit seeds for her family. Cao Thi Hoa’s family is a similar case. She said, “Under the support of the project, many households in the province have better living. Beside more sanitary living, many households have been given seeds to grow and breeders to raise.”

According many beneficiaries of the project, previously, most of the households in Hon Du Ham Let hadn’t had clean water to use. Owing to the project, clean water has led to every house. Local people also have been aware of following sanitation rules.
Dang Thanh Nhan, Vice-chairman of Khanh Nam Commune People’s Committee, said, “The project on clean water, sanitation and community development in Hon Du Hamlet has had initial effects, making improvement in economy, living and sanitation. After the project, local unions and volunteers will continue propagandizing, mobilizing and guiding the local to keep using works and taking care of the plants and animals.”
