Food prices rise due to rainy weather

Rainy weather in Khanh Hoa Province as well as Da Lat during recent days has influenced on the supply of food, which has made food prices rise.

At Dam Market and Xom Moi Market (Nha Trang) now, price of vegetable sees increase over those last week. Water spinach has risen from VND6,000 to VND8,000/bunch; tomatoes have risen from VND22,000 to VND25,000/kg; gourds and pumpkins have gone up from VND10,000/kg to VND13,000/kg; carrots have increased from VND10,000 to VND14,000/kg; cabbages have risen from VND12,000 to VND16,000/kg; salad has risen from VND50,000 to VND60,000/kg, etc. According to an official of Xom Moi Market Management Board, in comparison with last week, many kinds of vegetable have increased by 30% in price, some even saw a twice rise. The rainy weather lessening the supply of vegetable from Da Lat accounts for the increase in prices of vegetable in Nha Trang.
 

 

 
Fishery products also have risen by VND5,000 – VND10,000/kg. “The increase in seafood price is due to the rainy weather influencing fishing”, a seller said. Dried squids and dried fish have increased slightly as locals often buy this kind of products in rainy season. Particularly, meat and eggs have unchanged their price.
 
However, prices in supermarkets like Big C, Lotte Mart, Co.opmart, Vinmart, etc. are still stable as the supermarkets have signed contracts with suppliers.
