Many coastal localities in Khanh Hoa Province have put forward measures to develop seafood aquaculture in sustainable way.
Seafood aquaculture in the province focuses on lobsters and fish, mainly in Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh. Some other raised kinds are sweet snails, geoducks, seaweed, oysters, etc.
In October, 2016, the whole province raised 24,899 cages of lobsters with about 470 tons in total yield, 4,942 cages of sea fish (about 1,430 tons), 120 hectares of seaweed (about 530 tons), etc. Seafood aquaculture has partly improved living of raisers.

Fishery of Khanh Hoa Province has been oriented to develop towards modern production with food safety and environment protection in the coming time. Aquaculture on sea will be attached importance, especially high value seafood kinds like lobsters, offshore fish, seaweed, etc. Aquaculture will develop in three bays of Nha Trang, Van Phong and Cam Ranh.
Nguyen Ngoc Y, Chief of Van Ninh District Economic Department said, “For a sustainable development, Van Ninh District has oriented lobster raising in the period of 2016 – 2020. Specifically, raising areas in Dam Mon (Van Thanh Commune) and Cua Be (Van Phong Bay) will be cleared away to arrange raising in three areas, including Co Co (Van Phong Bay), among islands of Van Phong Bay, and Xuan Tu (Van Hung Commune). Accordingly, the whole district will have 478 lobster raising floats with 11,800 cages. Besides, the district warns raisers about feeding by industrial foodstuff to prevent environmental pollution, and obey regulations on environment to keep production stable. The district will also open training classes and take experiments to control epidemic diseases.”
According to Vo Khac En, Deputy Chief of Khanh Hoa Provincial Fishery Agency, for the sustainable and effective development of seafood aquaculture, the fishery industry will focus on planning water surface on bays in the province, including waters for raising lobsters, sea fish and some other kinds of valuable seafood.
