During the past years, Khanh Hoa has poured investment in many fishing ports like Hon Ro, Vinh Luong, Da Bac, Dai Lanh, etc. Currently, some other projects are under construction, aiming to serve offshore fishing of fishermen in the province as well as Southern Central provinces. Especially, in 2015, basing on proposal of the provincial People’s Committee, the Prime Minister has approved building up a big fishery center in Khanh Hoa.

“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development appreciated that Khanh Hoa is qualified for criteria to form a great fishery center of the Southern Central region. It will be one of six big fishery centers associated to key fishing grounds of the country. The fishery center in Khanh Hoa will be built up first as a model for the others. It’s expected to step up the development of fishery in the province and the Southern Central provinces”, said Le Tan Ban, director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to the 1/500 detail planning of Khanh Hoa big fishery center, it will be located in Cam Linh Ward, Cam Ranh City, covering an area of 65.49 hectares, including 50 hectares of water surface and 15.49 hectares of land. The center will feature wharfs, warehouses, production area, administrative area, service area, community area, technique area, waste water treatment area, etc.
The big fishery center in Khanh Hoa has two component projects. The first one is upgrading Da Bac fishing port. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has committed a grant aid of USD10 million for the upgrade of Da Bac fishing port. In addition, VND17 billion from the local State budget and VND54 billion from socialization will be poured into the project. The second is a dynamic fishing port which comprises two phases. The provincial People’s Committee has approved the investment of VND171.48 billion for the first phase. The provincial People’s Committee also is calling investment from Agency of French Development (AFD) and JICA for the second phase.
Chairman of Cam Ranh City People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Dung said, “Khanh Hoa big fishery center will form comprehensive logistic foundation supporting fishing. There will also be fishery processing center and auxiliary industries for fishing. Accordingly, a closed chain from fishing, purchase, process and sale has been set up.”
