Agricultural in Cam Lam District has been damaged much by the past floods. For instance, In Cam Hoa Commune, the heavy rains caused more than 550 hectares of rice areas flooded and spoilt. In Cam Hai Dong Commune, over 10 hectares of raising shrimps, fish and crabs was lost…
 
 
However, as soon as the rains stopped, the farmers went to their fields to recover farming. Farmers are repairing their fields, fishery raisers also are restoring edges and bottom of ponds…  
 
 
Flower growers also are promptly cultivating flowers to be in time for the lunar New Year festival (Tet). Phan Thi Tham (in Suoi Tan Commune) said, “These 2,000 daisy pots were put in a high place, so not flooded; but much rain has made them grow slowly.”

Local authority exert to support farmers
 
According to Nguyen Huu Hao, chairman of Cam Lam District People’s Committee, after flood, the local authority has done many measures to recover damage. The district has supported VND111.5 million for 8 families suffering serve loss. 
 
Some damaged roads and bridges have been repaired. At severely damaged ones, warnings have been put up.
 
The district People’s Committee has also petitioned the provincial People’s Committee to support 109 tons of rice as food aid for more than 7,000 people affected by flood, 247,000 kilograms of rice seeds for winter – spring rice crop, VND22 billion to repair damaged irrigational works to water for the winter – spring rice, and VND56 billion to repair 42 damaged traffic works.
 
“To farming, the district directed communes to mobilize farmers to try to plough, grow vegetable and some short-day crops initially”, said Nguyen Huu Hao.
