In recent years, the question what crops should be planted in agriculture of Khanh Hoa Province has been answered partly. According to tendency of the professional agencies and practice as well as creation of farmers, a large number of planting areas have been changed into highly valuable crops. High-quality fields have formed and confirmed their effectiveness, then being multiplied and developed. The remarkable change is forming the thought to grow plants suitable with market demand.
 

In Cam Lam District, in three recent years, Australian mangos have been grown to replace many other mango kinds. The areas of planting Australian mangos in Cam Lam has risen from 275 hectares in 2014 to 1,800 hectares now. Australian mangoes have been the first choice of mango growers in Cam Lam as they are more good-looking, more tasty and sell better. Nguyen Minh Tam, chairman of Cam Hai Tay Commune Farmers’ Association, said “One hectare of Australian mango trees gives about 3 tons of mangoes each year, earning growers VND150 million averagely.”

Green-skin grapefruits have also been grown well in Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province. According to leadership of the provincial Planting and Protecting Branch, growing green-skin grapefruit in Khanh Vinh District can earn 20 times as much as growing corn or manioc. A green-skin grapefruits can give about 120 kilograms of fruits each year, earning about VND3.6 million. Moreover, green-skin grapefruits are selling very well.
 
Safe vegetable fields are becoming more and more popular. Vegetable areas in Ninh Dong (Ninh Hoa Township) and Dac Loc (Vinh Phuong Commune, Nha Trang) have started a new tendency in improving quality of farm produces.
 
To rice, many places in Dien Khanh District and Ninh Hoa Township have become reliable suppliers for seed businesses.
 
Many of decisions passed at the recent provincial People’s Council session are related to agriculture, such as policies on transferring plants, supporting agriculture, building big fields, etc. In that, sustainment has been attached importance. It brings farmers an new advance in production. Cam Lam mangoes have been certificated trademark. Khanh Vinh mangoes are about to be certificated VietGAP. Safe vegetable areas will sign off-take agreements with businesses.
